Social Entrepreneurship
Training
Global Grassroots believes
that wisdom exists at the grassroots level among those directly impacted
by certain social issues. Ideas that spring from the raw experience of
injustice are infused with an underlying understanding of local cultural
dynamics. Further, those implementing the ideas are directly impacted by
their success or failure. Investment in social entrepreneurs encourages a
community to solve problems creatively and resourcefully, reducing
dependency on international aid.
Global Grassroots offers a
series of unique workshops on social venture development to grassroots
village and refugee communities to help inspire a culture of social
entrepreneurship and creative, collaborative problem-solving.
Priority is given to poor,
oppressed and underprivileged communities in Africa and Asia as well as
displaced persons residing in refugee camps. Our work uses a
high-engagement participatory model and emphasizes sustainability,
replicability and capacity building. The curriculum is designed to
serve a range of backgrounds from participants who are illiterate or have
limited formal education to more experienced entrepreneurs with some
business skills. Global Grassroots’ three-week training module involves
four primary components:
1
Individual Empowerment, Collective Purpose
and Visioning Change;
2
Systematic Problem Diagnosis and Creative Idea
Development;
3
Core Business Skills Training; and
4
Social Venture Development.
Global
Grassroots accesses new communities through strategic partnerships with
