e-Academy for Conscious Change

An interactive, holistic e-learning platform to provide step-by-step guidance and tools to help underserved, early stage change agents design their own micro-NGOs.

THE ISSUE: EXPANDING THE ACADEMY FOR CONSCIOUS CHANGE GLOBALLY
To date, we have received requests from women’s groups in over 45 countries seeking to participate in our Academy.

THE SOLUTION: THE eACADEMY
In response to this demand, Global Grassroots adapted its core program into an interactive web-based platform in order to disseminate our curriculum to change agents worldwide.

The eAcademy provides free training, skills and tools to support small-scale, grassroots-level social entrepreneurship among underserved women’s groups in poor countries, who have no other access to the training needed to start their own non-profit and design their own solutions to the social issues of priority to them in their communities.

Change agents using the eAcademy build a comprehensive venture plan online by completing 32 self-paced modules that guide them through all the stages needed to turn their ideas into mindful and sustainable micro-NGO's.

THE IDEA BANK
The Idea Bank allows change agents who build their venture plan using the eAcademy to share and spread their ideas for social change worldwide. The same innovative idea that protects women in Cameroon from gender-based violence may be able to be adapted and applied with equal success in Venezuela. The Idea Bank also offers a unique insight to donors who can get an in-depth look at grassroots-level social ventures in their earliest stages in order to assess the quality and feasibility of the project.

INTERNAP

One of our first ventures to be designed using the eAcademy is INTERNAP-Cameroon. The mission of INTERNAP is to reduce the impact of HIV and AIDS and suffering on women and girls in local communities in Cameroon through the promotion of gender equality and the socio- cultural, educational and economic empowerment of vulnerable women and girls. INTERNAP strives to archive its mission by providing educational support to orphan girls heading households and supporting HIV positive women with economic empowerment and to give them voice in participation in decision making at all levels. INTERNAP's Hope for women and girls' Infected and Affected by HIV and AIDS program, based in Menji will bring together 100 women living with HIV/AIDS for trainings on income generation and nutritional support. Further, girls infected and affected will be trained on human rights as a strategy to give them voice in participation in decision making. The program will be sustained financially through income generated from oil milling and magazines, which will also permit the sponsorship of 20 orphan girls heading households to return to school.
